I hope you and your staff had the opportunity to go to WasteCon in Phoenix this past month. SWANA did a great job putting together programs, networking events, tours, and exhibitors to address some of the more pressing issues in our industry. As we move towards a new year, I’d like to remind you of the opportunities and events in Texas for your professional development in 2020. This coming year, TxSWANA will not be conducting our typical annual conference, due to WasteCon coming to the Dallas area in December of 2020. Instead, we will be partnering with the Oklahoma Indian Nations Chapter at their annual conference which will be held March 3-5, 2020 in Norman, OK. We will be seeking approval from TCEQ to have the sessions counted towards your CEU needs for your MSW license. The TxSWANA annual equipment Road-E-O will be held June 19-20, 2020 in Austin. We hope you are able to send your best drivers, operators, and mechanics to show off their skills and hopefully advance to the SWANA International Road-E-O. Speaking of, the SWANA International Road-E-O will be held in El Paso, October 9-10, 2020. I would also like to remind everyone that it is almost time to announce dates and requirements for eligible members and their families for our annual scholarship program. Each year we give out up to $10,000 to students that have demonstrated leadership both inside and outside the classroom. The updated application form should be available on our website by January 2020. Check out txswana.org for more information on all the above-listed events. Thanks for your membership!
Sincerely, Richard McHale
